Nearly two years after its inception, Sam Buckingham is finally releasing her potent new album “Dear John" and touring the country to celebrate its April 8th release.

The album’s lead single “Something More”, released in 2021, was hailed as a feminist anthem. Off the back of the song’s success, Buckingham was invited to tour alongside Kate Miller-Heidke, Paul Kelly, Tim Freedman and Ben Lee. Buckingham wowed the crowd with her soaring vocals, silencing the room - Stack Magazine

Revered for her soul baring, intimate performances, Buckingham’s new live show keeps organic sounds and storytelling at the core, with the bold addition of live looping and sampling.

“I’m using Ableton Push to sample sounds that we created in the studio, live loop my vocals and bring the album to life as a solo touring artist. There’s so much going on musically, but it’s the most emotionally raw I’ve ever been.”

Co-producing the album with long time collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Kent Eastwood, “Dear John” documents Buckingham’s own experience of domestic abuse, and explores themes of gender equality and freedom of self expression. “I wrote the album while I was learning how to stand up for who I am and what I want. My experience mirrors so many people’s stories and I wanted to create something that helped women feel seen.”

Buckingham shares “Problematic Songs” on her social media accounts and hosts the “Song Baker” podcast - having frank conversations with women in music.
